Over the years my style has evolved. I used to love getting dressed up in cute dresses with stiletto heels all the time. I wasn’t much of the T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers type.
Now that I have 3 little kids to chase around, I just don’t have time to get dolled up. I’m about comfort and casual now, but at the same time I don’t want to be that frumpy mom either!
Whether you’re a mom or not, I’m sure we all want to look our best without spending a ton of time.
Do you want to look well put together, with minimal effort while feeling comfortable? Keep reading for style tips that will help you look effortless in casual chic.
First off, what exactly is casual chic? It’s dressing for comfort while looking sophisticated.
Dressing too casual can look sloppy and like you just don’t care about your appearance. When we present our best selves, we tend to feel better about ourselves.
The casual chic look is about balance. It’s combining casual with dressy so that you look polished, without sacrificing time and comfort. Here are some easy steps to put together a casual chic look!
Step 1: Pick Out Something Casual
Start off by picking out something that’s casual. This can be a T-shirt, tank, sweater, distressed jeans, or shorts.
Step 2: Pick Out Something Dressy
The next step is picking out something that’s dressy. This can be a blouse, lacy cami, fitted pants, or heels.
I chose to go with skinny cropped white jeans. These are the best white jeans I’ve come across. The material is soft and stretchy, which makes it comfortable to wear. The cropped length is actually perfect for petite women. It comes right down to my ankles so they make great skinny jeans, and I don’t need to roll them up!
Although jeans are considered casual, the white jeans I’m wearing are nicely fitted and they’re not distressed, so it has a more dressy look to it.
I also added nude high heel sandals to give the look more chic. You can go with flats, wedges, or skinny heels.
Step 3: Add Some Accessories
The last step to take your look from super casual to chic is adding some statement accessories. You can wear statement earrings or a necklace. I would not do both.
You can also add a watch or bracelet. Don’t over accessorize or it will look like you’re trying too hard, which will actually take away from this effortless look.
I chose to go with classic hoop earrings and trendy cat’s eye sunglasses. Mixing something classic with trendy is a great way to look modern, while also being timeless.
I hope this was helpful and have fun trying out your own casual chic look!
